(Beware, much rambling underneath… 😂)
So I said a few months back I was going to shelve TWW for eternity… … and eternity ended up being a few months. I was on holiday in Croatia for two weeks, and all the ships and water there made me want to pick it back up (plus the Croatian language reminds me of Yoshka’s quite a lot 😉). I’ve read through it with word read aloud and cleaned up any typos from the different drafts. I don’t think I will continue the trilogy at this point, unless it ever gets published because honestly it makes me too sad 😂 I did start a new version of The Fire Weaver that I really love and I would love to work on it, but I think at this point it’s better for me to work on new stuff. And I do have a “new stuff” that is suppppeeeerrr shiny but I want to take my time developing it properly before writing.
Anyway, instead of letting TWW rot away in my One Drive, I’ve decided to upload to Swoon Reads and you can read it here for free and all: https://www.swoonreads.com/m/the-water-weaver/
You just need to make an account to be able to read it. So, if anyone didn’t have chance to finish it or wants to reread it (there’s a few changes and extra scenes here and there, although they’re not that big) then you can do by clicking on the link above.
Swoon Reads is a free site for readers and writers and is a Macmillan Imprint. If they like your work, they might select you for publishing. What I really like is although getting comments and votes helps bring you to their attention, what matters is the story itself at the end of the day. I feel like wattpad was very much a popularity contest with the big numbers and the hot list ranking constantly in your face. With swoon, the books are by defaulted listed by “newest added” just like fanfiction.net that I used to write on. Also, on each selection cycle they might choose one person or six people and it entirely depends on whether the like the work available or not. So, nobody is competing with anyone else in that sense, and I really like that.
So anyway, I’m currently planning to try out swoon and get to know the community and hopefully make some friends on there 🙂 Even if I’m not selected, my goal is to just have fun with it and keep writing. If I like the site and its community, then I will probably be posting more work on there from now on. But anyway, we’ll see how it goes and I’ll probably just leave TWW up there for eternity – ‘cos it’s better there than my hard drive.
(And let’s not talk about the first draft disaster that was Jade Blood…. Lol. Maybe I can fix it, but I’m not so sure 😂 mannnn, I hate first drafts. Give me revising to do any day)
